Taxonomy
Cervus javanicus was named by Osbeck (1765) [see ICZN Opinion 1894]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Tragulus javanicus by Stone and Rehn (1902), International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (1998), Vislobokova (2001), Agnarsson and May-Collado (2008).
