Taxonomy

Blastomeryx antilopinus was named by Scott (1893) [also said to be 1893].

It was recombined as Palaeomeryx antilopinus by Douglass (1899), Matthew (1904); it was recombined as Dromomeryx antilopinus by Douglass (1909), Scott (1913), Frick (1937), Janis and Manning (1998); it was recombined as Subdromomeryx antilopinus by Prothero and Liter (2007), Prothero and Liter (2008).

Synonyms

Cranioceras kinseyi was named by Frick (1937).

It was recombined as Rakomeryx kinseyi by Tedford et al. (1987), Janis and Manning (1998); it was synonymized subjectively with Subdromomeryx antilopinus by Prothero and Liter (2007), Prothero and Liter (2008).
Dromomeryx (Subdromomeryx) scotti was named by Frick (1937). Its type specimen is F:AM 33800, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Greenside Quarry, which is in a Hemingfordian fluvial siltstone in the Sheep Creek Formation of Nebraska. It is the type species of Dromomeryx (Subdromomeryx).

It was recombined as Subdromomeryx scotti by Skinner et al. (1977); it was synonymized subjectively with Subdromomeryx antilopinus by Prothero and Liter (2007), Prothero and Liter (2008).
Dromomeryx (Subdromomeryx) wilsoni was named by Frick (1937). Its type specimen is F:AM 33800 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Subdromomeryx scotti by Skinner et al. (1977); it was synonymized subjectively with Dromomeryx (Subdromomeryx) scotti by Morea (1981), Janis and Manning (1998); it was synonymized subjectively with Subdromomeryx antilopinus by Prothero and Liter (2007), Prothero and Liter (2008).

Diagnosis

Reference	Diagnosis
W. B. Scott 1893	Size decidedly smaller than that of B. borealis Cope, and ribs of external crescents on upper molars less prominent.
D. R. Prothero and M. R. Liter 2008	Similar to Dromomeryx, but much smaller size (Table 1; Fig. 10); molars more mesodont; premolar row shorter, and Palaeomeryx fold usually lost. Supraorbital horns relatively smaller, with basal flange less pronounced, and limbs relatively longer and more slender than those of Dromomeryx (after Janis and Manning, 1998, p. 483).
