Taxonomy
Ammonites austeni was named by Sharpe (1855). It is a mold. It is the type species of Austiniceras.

It was recombined as Parapuzosia (Austiniceras) austeni by Wright and Kennedy (1984), Chancellor et al. (1994), Wilmsen and Nagm (2014) and Kennedy et al. (2024).
