Taxonomy
Deiroceras was named by Hyatt (1884). Its type is Orthoceras python.

It was assigned to Actinocerida by Flower (1957) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Ormoceratidae by Teichert et al. (1964), Crick (1981), Frey (1995) and Kröger (2008).
