Wolungoceras was named by Kobayashi (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem O Aren].
It was assigned to Troedssonellidae by Teichert et al. (1964), Crick (1981); to Orthocerida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sactorthoceratidae by Kröger et al. (2007).
