Taxonomy

Arthrophyllum was named by Beyrich (1850) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi D Eife Sepkoski's reference number: 299]. Its type is Orthoceras crassus.

It was assigned to Lamellorthoceratidae by Teichert et al. (1964), Kröger (2008).

Eoteuthis elfriedae was named by Stürmer (1985). It is a compression preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Schieleberg Quarry, Herrstein, which is in an Emsian marine slate in the Hunsrück Slate Formation of Germany.

It was considered a nomen vanum by Bandal and Stanley (1989).
