Kryptops palaios

Reptilia - Abelisauridae

Taxonomy
Kryptops palaios was named by Sereno and Brusatte (2008). Its type specimen is MNN GAD1, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gadoufaoua, G138, which is in an Aptian/Albian terrestrial horizon in the Elrhaz Formation of Niger.

Brusatte 2008Abelisaurid theropod characterized by the following two autapomorphies: (1) a deep secondary wall in the anteroventral corner of the antorbital fossa that completely obscures the antorbital fossa and that has a scalloped and fluted dorsal margin and (2) external texture on the maxilla, which is composed of short linear grooves.
