Taxonomy
Platyteichum costatum was named by Campbell (1953). Its type specimen is UQ F14181, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dry Creek, lower sandstone unit, Ingelara, which is in a Wuchiapingian coastal sandstone in the Ingelara Formation of Australia.
