Liotia botanica was named by Hedley (1915) [DISTRIBUTION: Holocene-Recent; west Pacific.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Austroliotia.

It was recombined as Liotina (Austroliotia) botanica by Cotton (1948), Ladd (1966).
