Lucina elegans was named by Defrance (1823) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Miltha (Cavilucina) elegans by Cossmann and Pissarro (1904); it was recombined as Phacoides (Cavilucina) elegans by Cossmann (1906); it was recombined as Phacoides elegans by Feuguer (1951); it was recombined as Monitilora elegans by Moore (1969); it was recombined as Monitilora (Monitilora) elegans by Glibert (1985).
