Taxonomy
Khoikhoicetus agulhasis was named by Bianucci et al. (2007). Its type specimen is SAM PQ 2678, a partial skull (most of the rostrum, the anterior part of the cranium and the vertex), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cape Agulhas, which is in a Miocene/Miocene marine phosphorite in South Africa. It is the type species of Khoikhoicetus.
