Taxonomy
Metarmenoceras bilaterale was named by Flower (1940). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NYSM 12379e/1. Its type locality is Dalhousie beds - Gaspe, which is in a Devonian marine horizon in Canada. It is the type species of Metarmenoceras.
