Taxonomy
Sorex ertemteensis was named by Storch (1995). Its type specimen is IVPP V12116, a tooth (P4 sup. dext), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Ertemte 2, which is in a Miocene lacustrine horizon in China.

G. Storch 1995 | Middle-sized species. Posterior face of P4 paracone with marked vertical groove. M1-2 with well developed paraloph and metaloph. Apex of a1 very close to the anterior edge of p4. Upper incisor fissident, lower incisor with conspicuous labial cingulid. Lower molars with high and sharp cusps and ridges, their labial cingulids straight or faintly undulate. The postmandibular foramen is absent, the mental foramen located beneath the m1 protoconid. Articular condyle slender with short interarticular area. Coronoid process high and slender. |
