Taxonomy
Tesselodon fangxianensis was named by Yan (1979). It is not a trace fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Hispanotherium matritense by Deng (2003); it was recombined as Caementodon (Beliajevina) fangxianense by Antoine (2003), Guérin and Pickford (2003).
