Baluchitherium mongoliense was named by Osborn (1924). Its type specimen is AMNH 19185, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Procoelodonta (Procoelodonta) mongoliense by Antoine (2003); it was recombined as Procoelodonta mongoliense by Matthew (1931), Antoine et al. (2002), Guérin and Pickford (2003).
