Rhinoceros schleiermacheri was named by Kaup (1834).
It was recombined as Dicerorhinus schleiermacheri by Guérin (1980), Cerdeno (1992); it was recombined as Lartetotherium schleiermacheri by Cerdeño (1995); it was recombined as Dihoplus schleiermacheri by Brandt (1878), Geraads and Koufos (1990), Kaya and Heissig (2001).
It was recombined as Dicerorhinus schleiermacheri by Guérin (1980), Cerdeno (1992); it was recombined as Lartetotherium schleiermacheri by Cerdeño (1995); it was recombined as Dihoplus schleiermacheri by Brandt (1878), Geraads and Koufos (1990), Kaya and Heissig (2001).
