Chama plicata was named by Solander (1766) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Crassostrea (Cubitostrea) plicata by Glibert and van de Poel (1965); it was recombined as Ostrea (Cubitostrea) plicata by Wozny (1977); it was recombined as Crassostrea plicata by Le Renard (1993); it was recombined as Cubitostrea plicata by Le Renard (1994) and Lan (1997).
