Sister taxa: Phenacolemur archus, Phenacolemur fortior, Phenacolemur lapparenti, Phenacolemur praecox, Phenacolemur simonsi

Type specimen: CM 79226, a mandible (right dentary preserving p4). Its type locality is Twelvemile Gulch, which is in a Clarkforkian fluvial siltstone in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming.

Ecology: arboreal omnivore

Distribution: found only at Twelvemile Gulch
