Sister taxa: Apeomys tuerkheimae, Apeomys whistleri

Type specimen: IVPP V 23218, a tooth (Right P4). Its type locality is Zhengji, which is in a Shanwangian fluvial-lacustrine conglomerate in the Xiacaowan Formation of China.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution: found only at Zhengji
