Sister taxa: Neoglyptatelus originalis, Neoglyptatelus sincelejanus

Type specimen: MNHN 1642, a partial skeleton (right portion of the pelvic shield; a nearly complete pectoral shield; tail armor with vertebrae; three thoracic vertebrae fused, complete right hindlimb, and p). Its type locality is Puerto Arazati Beach, which is in a Miocene paralic mudstone in the Camacho Formation of Uruguay.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

Distribution: found only at Puerto Arazati Beach
