Sister taxa: Nesodon andium, Nesodon brachycephalus, Nesodon cavifrons, Nesodon imbricatus, Nesodon limitatum, Acrotherium stygium, Acrotherium rusticum, Acrotherium karaikense
Type specimen: MHNSR-PV 1004, a skull (mostly complete skull with right M1–M3 badly preserved and remains of the left molars. Alveoli of the remaining teeth are preserved, but the area of I1 is damag). Its type locality is Arroyo Seco de la Frazada (Lower Section), which is in a Colhuehuapian terrestrial sandstone in the Aisol Formation of Argentina.
