Sister taxa: Brachygaulus leistneri, Brachygaulus nicholsi
Type specimen: CM 9911, a mandible (m1-m3). Its type locality is South Side of Dry Hollow, which is in an Orellan terrestrial horizon in the Dunbar Creek Formation of Montana.
Ecology: fossorial herbivore
Distribution: found only at South Side of Dry Hollow
