Belongs to Acarechimys according to M. Vucetich et al. 2015
Sister taxa: Acarechimys constans, Acarechimys gracilis, Acarechimys minutissimus, Acarechimys minutus
Type specimen: MPEF-PV 10677, a mandible (left dentary fragment with incisor and dp4-m3). Its type locality is Cabeza Blanca, which is in a Deseadan terrestrial shale/claystone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Cabeza Blanca
