Sister taxa: Pseudowellerella araxensis, Pseudowellerella gundarensis, Pseudowellerella nikchitchi, Wairakiella rostrata

Type specimen: NZGS BR1739. Its type locality is GS11133, Sutherland Farm (G45/f8683), which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate limestone in the AG4 Formation of New Zealand.
