Sister taxon: Aibolitus medicinus

Type specimen: MCZ 7467ab, an exoskeleton (nearly complete). Its type locality is Elmo, MCZ 1932 collection Upper Limestone, which is in an Artinskian pond limestone in the Wellington Formation of Kansas.
