Type specimen: SMNH-VeF-68, a skull. Its type locality is Chichibu, which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian reef, buildup or bioherm horizon in the Nagura Formation of Japan.
Ecology: aquatic carnivore-suspension feeder
Distribution: found only at Chichibu
