Sister taxon: Apatornis retustus
Type specimen: YPM 1451, a set of postcrania (synsacrum). Its type locality is Butte Creek, which is in a Coniacian/Santonian carbonate chalk in the Niobrara Formation of Kansas.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: found only at Butte Creek
