Forty pounds of substrate were removed from a four inch horizontal layer near each lithological boundary ...These bulk samples were dried and a thirty pound sub-sample was boiled in Quaternary O solution until they disaggregated. The disaggregated sub-samples were sieved through USGS #10 and #14 sieves."
