Where: Baja California Sur, Mexico (27.1° N, 113.8° W)
• Paleocoordinates: 27.8° N, 112.0° W (Wright 2013)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: San Marcos Formation, Early/Lower Pliocene (5.3 - 3.6 Ma)
• From well-bedded coarse sandstone dipping northwest, overlain by conglomerates and volcanics. About 200 ft of conglomerate and sandstone dip northwest and are capped with lava. A few fossils are found in thick-bedded sandstone interbedded between conglomerates indicating that at least part of the section is marine.
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: marine; poorly lithified, coarse-grained sandstone
Size class: macrofossils
