• "Stratigraphically these beds...lie intermediate between Manlius (Olney Member) ribbon-limestones and crinoidal Gypidual-bearing packstones and grainstones of the Coeymans Formation. The ribbon limestones (Olney) are typically interpreted as 'lagoonal' or shallow subtidal inner shelf...The Coeymans is inferred to represent offshore, high energy shoal settings. Crinoidal beds of the Litchfield area therefore can be interpreted as outer lagoonal or inner shoal margin facies...BA 2 or BA 2-3 border..."

• "found in thin to medium and relatively even-bedded skeletal packstones and grainstones. Completely articulated echinoderms occur typically on a few bedding planes generally covered by yellowish-weathering, fine carbonate (dolomite) silt. Skeletal packstone and grainstone beds beneath the crinoidal assemblages contain numerous fragmentary and disarticulated crinoid columns, bryozoans and brachiopods, indicating low rates of deposition with frequent minor agitation"
