• "The Fotan Group is considered to be Miocene in age based on palynological assemblage (Zheng and Wang 1994). Recent 40Ar/39Ar dating of the basalts overlaying the sedimentary layer containing the studied plant fossils suggests an age of 14.7 ± 0.4 Ma (Langhian stage, middle Miocene) (Zheng et al. 2019)."
